Smell of the Day will be updated when the inspiration strikes – lamentably, this does not occur on a set schedule. Thank you for visiting!
Hi Samantha-
I thought of you the other day. The 5th grade kids were waiting to board the bus for a 5 day outdoor education trip. The smell of that touring bus engine-leaving home for so long for the first time…
amiga, thank you so much! What a wonderfully bittersweet image – I’m honored that you came back to share it. That first long trip away… yeah.
Hi Samantha. I like your site and enjoy your writing. It’s wonderful the way we associate smells with things. Smell is definitely wired into my memeory. I want to share one of the strongest. I played high school football. I was definitely not one of the jocks, but just a thing for a kid to do. Football is not a big part of my life. But every time, I mean absolutely every time I smell freshly cut grass it snaps me right back (30+ years) to the sweltering hot August practices and a thousand memories of old friends. It’s great.
Please don’t sell my email address. Somehow, I think you won’t.
